Tarot Movie Review

I don’t typically do movie reviews here, but the Tarot subreddit and FB groups are all abuzz about the new movie, Tarot, which is now playing in theaters. Most of the buzz is concern that it will give the whole idea of Tarot a bad rap.

To be fair, people are prone to go on witch hunts and attribute things they don’t understand to Satan, so maybe that’s not an unfounded concern. But having seen the film I feel like we can rest easy.

Before you read further, have you seen the movie Ouija? If you have then you’ve basically seen Tarot.

Tarot centers around a group of college students who rent and Air B&B for a pre-graduation get-together, happen upon one particular special cursed deck, and then bad things happen. So to be clear, it’s about one deck in particular, not the whole discipline. I feel like they do make a point to stress that in the film. Beyond that, it is a tween-friendly horror flick that has just the right amount of humor to keep it from getting too intense.

I enjoyed the movie, but it’s not going to change my life. I would recommend it if you are into fairly tame horror.
