Happy World Tarot Day to all who celebrate!
I thought I would kick off the day by interviewing a tarot deck. I am going to do a lot of these because I have a lot of decks that are getting dusty and deserve some love. Credit where credit is due, I got this idea from @suburban_witchery ‘s YT, thanks for that video!
Today is also World Dracula Day, so it seemed only appropriate that I would interview the Vlad Dracula Tarot (Rockpool Publishing, Travis McHenry). I will say first off that every card does depict and event from Vlad the Impaler’s life, and it’s all very horrifying. Although it mentions traditional interpretations of the cards, it does not necessarily follow them. The cards are nice quality, full color, with gilded edges. It comes with a rather detailed guide book. There are no reversal interpretations.

Questions:
1. What card best describes your personality as a deck? Nine of Stakes
Given the interpretation from the book, this deals with the dual nature of winning and losing, and oftentimes a lopsided victory. Maybe you’re Vlad, maybe you’re on a spike. I feel like this deck is for competitive people dealing with conflicts or competitions that they want to win.
2. What can I learn from you? Three of Cups.
This story is about three monks who encountered Vlad. The one who survived did so by being smart enough to kiss his butt. I interpret this to mean this deck is happy to give advice about how to survive and thrive under difficult circumstances.
3. What subject to you like least? 8 of Cups.
The interpretation of this card is about walking away from something dissatisfying, more or less. It depicts Vlad boiling Saxons alive. They were useful to him once, but too much bother ultimately. I think this deck does not like quitters.
So overall I think the Vlad Dracula Tarot is a good choice for someone who is in the cutthroat (pun intended) world of business, intrigue, or maybe even entertainment. You need to know when to fight, when to fawn, but don’t come to Vlad if you want to flee.
